Finally a BIG sleep in – it was 8:30 before anyone’s eyes saw the light of day… a tap tap on the door woke us up! Thinking it was Grammy and Grandpa… but no! It was housekeeping!! Ummmm – why is housekeeping trying to come in to clean at 08:30? Yikes!
Now that we are awake, we get rolling. We know that the park is going to be super busy today – so the plan is to do some things around the campground in the morning. Grammy and Grandpa want to take the kids on a pony ride at the campground – HUGE hit! Ainsley rode on Satin and Matthew had Snickers – Ainsley in particular was in HEAVEN on the horse! She wants to be a cowgirl when she grows up… so this type of activity is right up her alley!
We headed over to the MK for a quick lunch (no counter service at Ft. Wildnerness - TOTAL BUMMER!!!) and then Ainsley and I came back for naps. Ken and Matthew hung out with the crowds for a little while longer. Eventually we all met up for dinner, and then headed back into MK as a family to hit some rides for the last time, and watch the fireworks. The castle is AMAZING at this time of year, the lights on it are beautiful. We watched the fireworks from over towards TomorrowLand - right under the rope that tinkerbell flies on - so that was super cool!
We didn't get back to the cabin til well after midnight - so Sunday was destined to be another long day. The drive was actually pretty good - traffic was light and moving - and we got home to Raleigh around 6:30 PM. Nice to sleep in our own beds again!!
It was a great, great vacation and we can't wait to go back again. Ken and I would even like to do a 4 day weekend alone... which sounds odd - but there are so many sides to the Disney expereince! It's great for kids or grownups, teens or seniors. Everyone has a way to have a great trip! I think next year we'd wait one more week in December to go - the week after the Pop Warner event...
