Day Two – Thursday December 6th, 2007

Ugh… late nights make for messy mornings! We dragged our very sleepy butts out of bed to make 9:10 breakfast ressies over at Ohana – which is a boat and train ride away…

So – sidebar here… the Ft. Wilderness Campground and Resort is a really great place to book into when coming to Disney. Unlike a hotel – just rooms after room after room – Ft. Wilderness has a really neat vibe and character to it… the cabins are gorgeous, up to date and very clean. Everything you could ever need to “live” here short term is ready and waiting. It’s nice to have the ability to put the kids to bed, and still have a kitchen and living room to hang out in for a while to relax. The down side to being here is transportation – it’s a small downside in my opinion – but still something worth noting. The busses that run within the campground are on a 10-12 minute schedule BEST case… it gets pretty slow if there are a lot of scooters or wheelchairs that need to be loaded and unloaded. I wish there were “express” stops that you could choose to walk to that would just go direct with maybe 1 stop between the Outpost and Settlement – something to speed things up. In addition – it’s boat transport to MK – which if you hit the boats at good times – is really pretty nice! If you don’t though – it’s a lot of hurry up and wait.

Secondly - there are NO counter/quick service food options at Ft. Wilderness - so if you're on the dining plan, be prepared for a boat or bus ride if you are trying to use your counter service credits. There is a desperate need for counter service at this resort - if you're reading this and agree, please submit your feedback and suggestions to Disney directly via guest services!! It's all about funding - and thus far they keep losing out on the battle for cash to build something new and needed on the property.

Back to breakfast…so we arrive at the Polynesian around 9AM for our 9:10 reservation – and we wait. And wait. And wait. Sheesh! A good 20 minutes until finally being seated… only to WAIT again. The wait staff won’t serve us until a chef has personally visited our table to discuss the specific needs of the allergy kids we own… J I want to go off on a tangent again here – never in our wildest dreams have we ever imagined a place like this, where such care and attention is paid to each and every guest that has specific food requirements. It completely MADE our vacation to not have to stress about food every time we sat down somewhere…

OK – this is now the 4th paragraph and I haven’t even finished breakfast yet!! Lilo, Stitch, Pluto and Mickey all stopped by while we were eating breakfast and we got some great pictures. Food was OK – nothing amazing… but a neat place to see. The kids enjoyed the parade around the restaurant, and it was fun to see Mickey for sure.

After breakfast, we headed for the Animal Kingdom. This park seemed less busy and we enjoyed our walk around Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and the Safari ride was excellent! We saw the trick painters doing their show in the street, and the moving trash can was pretty cool too! The kids met Pocohantas, Rafiki, Baloo and Jimminy Cricket.

Back to camp – Grammy and Grandpa arrived and we headed to their campsite for visiting and dinner. Completely missed the Space Shuttle Launch! Great dinner – then kids hung out while Ken and I headed to downtown Disney to see Cirque – incredible show!

Another late night – thank goodness we don’t need an alarm for Friday morning… J
