Saw a third LC today, and she thinks Amelia might be tongue tied, type 4. With almost no forward motion of her tongue - there is no stimulation to the bottom of my breast where the milk pockets are, thus the negative cycle with supply. We have 3 appointments tomorrow - a weight check at 9:15, a consult with a pediatric feeding specialist at 11 and then we're seeing our favourite ENT at 2:30 to discuss whether or not a clip is possible to free up the tongue movement.
At her weight check yesterday she was back to 6 lbs 12 ounces... so .5 ounces per day since Friday. That is sufficient as per the NP.
I have never cried so many tears in these last 5 days. There is nothing like the feeling of not being able to feed your child. Literally - there are as many struggles with us supplementing her with expressed milk in a bottle, as there are with her at the breast. Feeding all round just sucks right now.
