This past summer, Matthew "found" his new game - Scrabble. We started playing at the beach and he loves it. We play probably 2-3 nights a week now, and it's both educational and fun for both of us!
Saturday night after dinner out, we started a game. We were maybe 15 turns in, and the board was sort of past the point of being "easy" and you really had to start to look to make words. He was sort of struggling, when all of a sudden he puts down "TW" in front of an un-used "I".
TWI.
I looked at him and was like "Whatever dude, that is so not a word."
"Yes it IS," he said emphatically. "TWI is a language spoken in Africa."
"Yeah RIGHT!" I exclaim... "Challenge!!"
He goes over to the laptop (we use dictionary.com as our "official game dictionary") and looks up TWI...
"–noun - a Kwa language spoken in Ghana that is mutually intelligible with Fanti. "
NICE. So my 7 year old knows about African language arts??
W T H!!!!!!
Suffice to say he collapsed in a fit of laughter and was SO proud - it carried him right through the rest of the game!
