Happy Birthday Ainsley Bear!

The little bear is 7 years old.

Ainsley was born on March 19th, at 8:05 in the evening in Cary, NC. She was 18.5 inches long and 6 lbs, 14 ounces. A pea pod. She was an easy pregnancy and her arrival in the outside world was quick and simple.

She was a scheduled induction but when we arrived at the hospital, my OB had been called into emergency surgery so we waited for hours (rightly so...) to get things rolling. He broke my water at 5:30 and she arrived 2.5 hours later. She didn't make a fuss at all...

Which still holds true to this very day. Ainsley is just so easy. Easy to love, easy to live. Nothing gets her too riled up. She wants to make people happy, but won't compromise her own thoughts or feelings to do so. She knows balance.

The world is a bright and happy place for our Ainsley. You are quick to smile. There are things to do, places to go, and things to see. Everything is an adventure! You have an incredible imagination, and are very creative. Art and crafty activities are some of your favourite ways to spend free time.

You love, love the ocean - the beach, sand, shells and sea entertain you for days. You are very comfortable in the water and love to ride the waves!! I can't wait to see you playing in the surf again this summer.

Ainsley - you have truly blossomed this past year. As you start your eighth trip around the sun, you are forging ahead with school... you work so hard, and have that never-quit attitude that comes with being second in line I think. You quietly go about your business... often surprising all of us with your ability and comprehension.

You are internally motivated - and it's amazing to see. You are incredibly helpful with Amelia - and she adores you so much!! You are a wonderful big sister. You are also a rock of sorts to Matthew - you help diffuse his sometimes high running emotions in gentle ways. You are wise beyond your years.

Not a girl to go for dolls or dress up - you are more comfortable climbing trees or running with the boys through the woods. I worry about you sometimes - that you don't have a really close girl friend yet. You have the wonderful girls from your Y Princess tribe - but you haven't found that one close connection with another girl... I want you to have that. We all need that.

It's amazing to me - that you are such a beautiful girl inside and out - yet you have no idea. There is not one ounce of your being that is vain or self centered - you wake up every morning, roll out of bed and get on with the business of being a friend and daughter and sister in the best way you know how.

Happy Birthday Ainsley. May your every wish come true. You are one of a kind - and we love you more than anything!!!

Love,

Mom
